Worth a Thousand Words

Reviews

Indigo Burns knows exactly where she is going in life until boyfriend Brian's unexpected and very public marriage proposal brings about an engagement that Indigo is not sure she really wants. Torn between her career aspirations and marriage, Indigo has some major soul searching in store in order to face the hard decisions in her future. Worth a Thousand Words, Adams's second series title (after The Someday List) is an excellent yet complex contemporary tale of faith and family that features a strong, independent African American protagonist and well-crafted supporting characters. Sure to appeal to twenty-something women and readers who want African American fiction that goes beyond "the streets."

Worth a Thousand Words is an excellent read, and one of the best books I’ve read so far this year.  One theme that resonates throughout the book is that there is a blessing in both the good and the bad.  I was brought to tears as I read this novel.  I could feel the pain of each character.  I could identify with the way each character responded to the setbacks they endured.  My heart was pricked and my faith and hope in God was made even stronger with each page I read. Stacy Hawkins Adams has quickly become a literary force to be reckoned with in the Christian fiction genre.  Each of her works are insightful, timely and deliver a powerful message.  Anyone who picks up a copy of this novel is sure to be inspired, encouraged and uplifted.

“The novel moves along in the lives of these young people and their families
with little distraction until suddenly four gut-wrenching episodes erupt,
causing pain, shock, fear, and indecision. The reader might not react to all
of them, but at least one of them will probably shake up or affect everyone
who picks up the book in some way… Although her characters are African-
American for the most part, they are really any of us, young and old, seeking
answers to humbling and difficult questions, and pressing on in spite of
all life’s varied opportunities, distractions, sufferings, and confrontations.”

“This series has totally just blown me away by bringing up topics most authors
would avoid to fend off controversy. Stacy Adams has now captured my full
attention and I've become a new fan. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in this
series. HIGHLY recommended.”

“Worth a Thousand Words leaves the reader with that warm fuzzy feeling I've
come to associate with a Stacy Hawkins Adams novel. The characters are
sweet, poignant and easy to follow. The story drives you along for a perfectly
paced ride. You'll laugh, cry and wonder why you sometimes all in the same
chapter. It's a great read with some interesting and unexpected twists and
turns that keeps the reader involved until the very end.”
