Words to Live By

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Words hold power, whether written or spoken. Before the dawn of the New Year, take time to choose three words to guide your 2010 journey. Prepare to utter them often to keep yourself centered.

My three words are love, joy and transformation. They all tie to Scriptures I’m meditating on and to a personal prayer I’ve written to recite everyday.

I posted this comment on my Facebook page today and received dozens of other great words and phrases that people across the country will speak into their souls throughout the year, including these:

SG: “I am victorious!”

AS: love, commitment, diligence

MEM: Persistence, confidence, faith

LB: Educate, elevate, appreciate

SEF: “Life more abundantly”

WHM: “Hand in His”

SA: Excellence, generosity, humility

What three words will you choose…and then use?? They can be life changing!

Making Room for the Right Stuff

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

As we countdown to 2010, be sure you’ve made room to receive your New Year blessings. Forgive others – and yourself.

Forgiving doesn’t require you to restore unloving relationships or dwell where you aren’t valued; it calls you to release others (or yourself) from guilt or grudges and reserve that energy for the good things God has planned for your future.

When you let go, you’ll not only live, you’ll thrive! You’ll be able to recognize and receive authentic love, abundant grace and jaw-dropping experiences orchestrated by God, just for you.

Isaiah 58: 9-11: (NIV)
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: “Here am I.”

If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

When You Believe

Thoughts on success from actor Will Smith:

~ “There’s no reason to have a Plan B, because it distracts from Plan A.”

~ “Just decide who you’re going to be (and) how you’re going to do it.”

~ “You got a dream? You got to protect it.”

Watch the YouTube video, “Will’s Wisdom,” for more of his thoughts. His confidence and enthusiasm are evidence that with God, all things are possible!

Holiday Hopes and Dreams

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Kids and adults have two things in common this time of year: Hopes and dreams.

How much time, effort and faith are you willing to invest to see yours come true – for the holidays and well into 2010?

ASK for it, then ACT upon it, as if it’s already done.

Enjoy this final Christmas of the decade, and no matter what your circumstances are today, give thanks. Be assured that you’re learning lessons now that will serve you well wherever your dreams take you.

Most importantly, remember the true reason for this season – to celebrate the greatest gift and greatest love of all.

Christmas Blessings!

Celebrate Life

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

On this last Sunday in Advent, as we count down to Christmas, make it a day of celebration.

CELEBRATE your life, with all of its pains, problems or flaws. CELEBRATE your gifts and triumphs.

CELEBRATE knowing the One whose birth makes life worth living, no matter what.

CELEBRATE the promises and possibilities each new day brings, and PRAISE GOD in advance for the ones with your name on them.

Enjoy your countdown to Dec. 25 and be blessed!

Holiday Mantra: I Will Not Judge

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Do you often judge a book (or person) by what you see? As we head into a week of downtime and celebration with family and friends, decide to judge a book only after reading at least three pages, and NOT to judge a person solely by his or her actions, since you don’t know the story behind them.

Read with an open heart, and love with one, too. Enjoy this week leading up to Christmas!
